As the Director of Front Architects (JWLand Design), Vikram designed this mixed-use development of two hundred and forty-one apartments, and ten commercial tenancies. The site, in Founders Lane, posed the challenge of designing around three large, registered trees. Playfully incorporating them into the design, a courtyard is carved out using the trees to create a ‘place’ that is activated by ground floor cafés and restaurants, accessible to the residents of the precinct and the site’s wider context. SOL’s geometric form expresses bold contemporary design; a fusion of materials including metal and glass complements the terracotta precast blade walls.
