Located in an old and leafy suburb, the Macquarie House is wrapped around a feature pool designed to be seen from every room. The double-height ceilings create a visual connection to the family and dining rooms from the second floor, both of which are oriented with large north-facing windows that open to the pool. Stone, timber, and metal cladding were used on the exterior to create a visual connection to the older houses in the suburb whilst maintaining a modern facade through its form.
The client’s previous home appliances were repurposed in this house to minimise environmental impact.
