Forde House

Forde House is a residential build that prioritises the design of light and space. Designed for a friend, the process involved working closely with the client and the family whilst carefully considering the site requirements. The L shaped house wraps around the north facing outdoor area that is screened from the pedestrian pathway and the creek, but it still benefits from the openness the location has to offer.

The open plan living areas connect to the street and the outdoors through large openings, whereas the bedrooms are screened and more private from the common areas. The upper floor bedroom and study opens to a vast double-height living space creating an interaction between the two floors and allowing a pathway for light.

The final design incorporates a mixture of stone, render, and timber finishes, establishing a hierarchy between the built forms.
