Vikram’s vision when he founded Chevli Architects was to combine his unique experience with his passion for design. He works closely with clients and the context, to ensure that the essence of a place is fully captured in his work.
Growing up in Surat, India, he completed his undergraduate degree at the School of Architecture, CEPT, Ahmedabad, and Bezalel Academy of Arts, Jerusalem. He then studied for his postgraduate degree at the University of New Mexico in 2003, followed by a year of traveling and working in the USA. In India, he worked for Matharoo Associates as a Site Architect for three years, whilst designing a few residential projects of his own.
In 2008, Vikram moved to Australia, working for different firms before joining Stewart Architecture in 2011, where he worked for seven years. In 2018, leaving Stewart Architecture as a Senior Associate, he joined Front Architects (JWLand Design) in Canberra as Design Director, where he delivered mixed-use developments, driving them from concept stage to hand over. In 2021, he decided to start Chevli Architects to connect his home city, Surat, with Canberra, the city he now resides in.
