The Turner house stands in one of Canberra’s oldest suburbs. As the character of the neighbourhood transforms, contemporary architecture is emphasised over traditional forms. The house’s curved facade reflects the rounded edge of its block, while diverse materials like charred timber, face brick, and metal cladding forge a modern feel.
Designed for a family with two young kids and two dogs, the Turner House breaks the segregation between inside and outside. Interior details flow outwards to seamlessly shift from home to garden. Large openings provide immediate access to the north-facing lawn as green landscaping encircles the house.
